The water, the land, the agricultural heritage, the community — everything that makes NorthFork rum possible comes from this place. We have a responsibility to protect it, invest in it, and leave it better than we found it.
Sustainability is not a buzzword for us. It is a practical commitment to the people and the place that make our business possible. Here is what that looks like in practice.
Our Framework
We source ingredients from Long Island farms wherever possible. Our molasses comes from suppliers with transparent supply chains. Our fruit infusions use real, locally-grown produce when in season.
Distilling is water-intensive. We have invested in water recycling systems that reduce our consumption by recapturing and reusing cooling water throughout the production process.
Spent grain and fermentation byproducts are composted or donated to local farms as animal feed. We are working toward zero-landfill production by 2026.
A portion of every bottle sold goes back into the North Fork community — supporting local events, youth programs, and organizations that protect the Long Island Sound.
In Practice
We never market to underage consumers. Our advertising is targeted exclusively at adults 21 and over. We actively promote responsible consumption in all our messaging.
Every bottle clearly states what's in it. No hidden ingredients. No misleading claims. We believe consumers deserve to know exactly what they're drinking.
We pay fair wages, offer benefits to full-time employees, and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects the community we serve.
We partner with Long Island farms, restaurants, and retailers whenever possible. Keeping money in the local economy is not just good ethics — it's good business.
We are in the process of transitioning to renewable energy sources for our distillery operations. Our goal is to be carbon-neutral by 2027.
Our bottles are made from recycled glass. Our packaging materials are recyclable. We are actively working to reduce packaging weight without compromising product integrity.
