NorthFork Distillers · Holtsville, New York
We didn't invent Long Island rum. We brought it back. Three centuries of history, one small-batch distillery, and a commitment to doing it right.
Our Mission
Long Island has a rum story that most people have forgotten. Before Prohibition, before the vineyards, before the Hamptons became the Hamptons, this island was a hub of the colonial rum trade. Molasses came in from the Caribbean. Distilleries lined the harbors. The spirit of the place was literally in the barrels.
NorthFork Distillers was built to honor that history and to make something worthy of this land. We distill in small batches, source locally where we can, and put the North Fork's character into every bottle we produce.
Our mission is simple: make exceptional rum that reflects where it comes from, sell it honestly, and build a business that the North Fork community can be proud of for generations.
What We Stand For
We make small batches on purpose. Every bottle gets the attention it deserves. We will never sacrifice quality for scale.
The North Fork is not just our address — it is our identity. The land, the water, and the history of this island shape everything we make.
No artificial flavors. No shortcuts. When we say berry rum, we mean real berries. When we say spiced, we mean real spices.
We are a Long Island business built for Long Island people. We support local farms, local events, and local causes.
We take our responsibility seriously. We never market to underage consumers and we actively promote responsible consumption.
We are not chasing trends. We are building a distillery that will still be here in 50 years — one great bottle at a time.
Three Centuries of Rum
The story of rum on Long Island is older than the United States. Here's how we got here.
1700s
Long Island becomes a hub of the colonial rum trade. Molasses from the Caribbean flows into North Shore harbors. Distilleries line the docks. Rum is currency.
1920
The 18th Amendment shuts down legal distilling across America. Long Island's rum heritage goes underground — and eventually, underground means forgotten.
2020
A Long Island native with a passion for craft spirits and a deep respect for local history begins researching what it would take to bring rum back to the North Fork.
2023
After years of planning, recipe development, and regulatory work, NorthFork Distillers is established in Holtsville, New York. The first batch of Silver Rum is distilled.
2024
The full lineup — Silver, Spiced, Berry, Lemonade, and Apple Pie — is released. Each expression earns its place on the shelf through character, not marketing.
Today
NorthFork Distillers continues to grow, with bourbon and vodka in development and a commitment to making Long Island proud — one small batch at a time.
